As of 9/18/23: The water distribution system should be connected into loops, so that the supply of water may be conveyed to the consumer from more than one direction. Looping of the water system minimizes the likelihood of consumers being without water in the event of a water main break. The Authority has instituted a program to eliminate existing dead-end water mains throughout the system. Construction is presently underway for a water main extension along New Brooklyn Road that will result in a loop for the customers that presently receive water from the existing 12-inch water main in place along Radix Road. There are several residential developments with water systems that branch off from the Radix Road water main. Those developments will benefit from this improvement to the overall system. In addition, the extension will provide availability for public water for properties along New Brooklyn Road between Walnut Avenue and Radix Road. The new 12-inch water main is currently being constructed by Monroe Municipal Utilities Authority personnel, which results in a substantial savings from having the work done by outside contractors.
